RH-NP-01On the counter

Break out song of the week.

Sulfate "And It Wants" Flying Nun · from the EP And It Wants, today

Taped

Here we go, the strangest (in a very good way) track of the week. It's labelled as punk but this is punk if punk was imagined by Maynard James Keenan. Which is no bad thing.

RH-NP-02

Cenobia "Swallowed By The World" Fearless · from the EP Lethal Devotion, 18 Sep

Taped

Dark and grinding, we're pleased to see Cenobia back on the list.

RH-NP-03

Braaheim "Unchain My Heart" Soave Records · out 16 Oct · standalone

Standard fare from Braaheim, a good way to boost your Friday

RH-NP-04

merci, mercy "Butterflies" out 11 Sep · standalone

Taped

This hits all the right notes, pop, electro and catchy lyrics. More of this please.

RH-NP-05

Morrissey "Without Music the World Dies" Sire Records · out 16 Oct · standalone

Oh we're so conflicted by this. If it was a B-Side on a Smiths single we'd say it was worth checking out. As it is? You decide for yourself.

RH-NP-06

Iron & Wine "Pilgrim's Highway" Sub Pop · from Hen's Teeth (Deluxe Edition), 22 Sep

Taped

If you like your music haunting, like we do, you'll love this like we did.

RH-NP-07

Cyndi Lauper "The River Cried" Epic · from True Colors (40th Anniversary Expanded Edition), 15 Sep

Reissuing True Colors for a new generation is smart but we wonder if this meandering song is the right song to push.

RH-NP-08

The Cranberries "Such A Waste (2027 Remastered)" Geffen · out 22 Oct · from the 25th-anniversary deluxe of Wake Up And Smell The Coffee, 29 Jan 2027

Taped

Another reissue, this time we are sure that this is the right pick. A perfect example of what The Cranberries are about.

RH-NP-09

Lucifer "Blow Up (Studio)" Seelie Court · from My Best Friend, 9 Oct

Taped

This was a real surprise and a genuine gem. A late 70s style, reminiscent of Heart and Fleetwood Mac. Check Lucifer out.

RH-NP-10

In This Moment "I Want to Believe (feat. Dayseeker)" Better Noise Music · from Witch, 28 Aug

It feels like this is always on the edge of exploding into life and never quite does.

RH-NP-11

Glasswaves "circling_the_drain" SharpTone · from while(True), today

Taped

We went back to this several times and every time we felt it growing on us. A slow burn but worth the pay off.

RH-NP-12

unpeople "blueprints" SharpTone · from we are unpeople, 9 Oct

Taped

This is a truly unique song, hard rock vibes but with duelling vocals and its own style. A band to watch for sure.

RH-NP-13

World News "Frog" Pie & Mash · from In Purgatory, 16 Oct

A curious song, echoes of something that we just can't place. We suggest you check them out and see what you think.

RH-NP-14

Wasted Youth Club "The Pack" From Frantic Living, 16 Oct

Taped

Strong punk vibes coming off this one. We can imagine pogoing to it a lot.

RH-NP-15

Bracelet "Slow Burn" Uncle M · out 16 Oct · from the EP BRACELET, 6 Nov

Taped

Anything but a slow burn for us, we loved this track. Check them out.

RH-NP-16

Virga "Perception Management" out 9 Oct · double A-side with “Impassable Monolith II”

Taped

Soaring vocals and doom-laden guitars, this is epic in all the right ways.

RH-NP-17

From First to Last "They Said Your Ghost Was A Promise" Fearless · from the EP We Were Bleeding Anyway, 2 Oct

Taped

Screamo lives and we are all for it!

Wiley "Beyond The Box"

We are 99.9% sure this is not the Wiley we know. So much so that we listened to the B-Side on the single. This is generic house music and we recommend ignoring it.

What a weird week.
