Jim Steinman
01 Jim Steinman "Bad for Good" Bad for Good · 1981 · written and sung by Jim Steinman

ViaTitanic in scope, composition, and ultimately in its delivery. The lyrics are epic and the music is something to behold but there's a reason we remember Jim as a producer and not a performer.

02 Meat Loaf "Bat Out of Hell" Bat Out of Hell · 1977 · written by Jim Steinman

ViaIs it a song or is it a saga? It's bombastic, it's brash, it's a story told in parts. The album of the same name spawned two sequels and a musical. Mon dieu!

03 Pandora's Box "It's All Coming Back to Me Now" Original Sin · 1989 · written and produced by Jim Steinman

ViaPandora's Box is the original and we'd say probably the best. Steinman went so far as to go to court to stop Meat Loaf recording a version, and it was 2006 before he got one.

+ Bonus Celine Dion Falling into You · 1996 · produced by Jim Steinman
+ Bonus Meat Loaf with Marion Raven Bat Out of Hell III: The Monster Is Loose · 2006
04 Bonnie Tyler "Holding Out for a Hero" Footloose (soundtrack) · 1984 · written by Jim Steinman and Dean Pitchford, produced by Jim Steinman

ViaSome might pick "Total Eclipse of the Heart" but finding a street-wise Hercules will always be our pick.

05 The Sisters of Mercy "More" Vision Thing · 1990 · written and produced by Andrew Eldritch and Jim Steinman

ViaWe are very new to The Sisters of Mercy but this is an incredible introduction. It's dark and fast and you can hear Steinman's production.

06 Andrew Polec & Christina Bennington "For Crying Out Loud (from Jim Steinman's Bat Out of Hell: The Musical)" Jim Steinman's Bat Out of Hell: The Musical · 2017 · original cast recording

ViaWe nearly went for Take That but you know what, The Musical deserves the love.

Eight songs and three days later, we raise a glass to Jim Steinman.
