Mike Peters in Big Country with Derek Forbes, then Simple Minds.

We tried to extend it: Forbes to MacColl to The Smiths to Johnny Marr, and Forbes to MacColl to The Pogues to Strummer, and even Lillywhite, who produced almost all of them.

We even avoided the fact that Forbes was once in The Alarm!

On this trip we learnedThat the music scene in the 1980s was based on collaborations and people joining and leaving bands all the time.

We didn't take the easy path.
